Colourpop x Euphoria
A mockup makeup collaborationI've always had an affinity towards teenage television series, especially when it included raw and authentic life storylines. Euphoria by HBO is one of my favorite television series and when I watched it, I became obsessed with their psychedelic visuals and glamorous makeup. I resonated with the characters and their choice to express themselves through their appearances. The show is notorious for the characters' bold and bright makeup and I was shocked when I found out the show had never collaborated with a makeup brand.
This project is a creative exploration of a collaboration between Euphoria and Colourpop Cosmetics. I chose Colourpop Cosmetics because I strongly believe in the brand's value for providing affordable, quality and vegan products to their consumer base. Some of their current cosmetics collaborations include names such as: Animal Crossing, Mulan and even Sailor Moon! The brand is not afraid of innovation and creativity, I understand that Euphoria’s demographic is younger generations and they are not afraid to buy products that challenge the norm. Overall, the result is five highly contrasted eyeshadow palettes that cater towards each individual character and unique personality.
Meet, Rue.
Rue doesn't wear makeup, but when she does, her face is covered in glitter.
Her use of glitter is subtle and emotive. Just like what’s going on inside Rue’s head, her makeup looks are meant to look a mess – smudgy and unpolished close-up, but they have this amazing, emotional quality that just feels like tears.
Meet, Jules.
Jules' character is outwardly caring, kind, and soft-natured. She is creative and child-like in her mannerisms, which is shown through her makeup looks.
“Moody blue thick eyeshadow, laced with glitter; romantic blusher; the glossy pink lip – her makeup is a defense mechanism when it needs to be” (I-D).
